Mining helps secure the GoldCoin network, in order to mine, all you need is a computer capable of running a mining client, if you’re able to see this page then its 99% likely your system supports the recommended mining client.

There are a great many mining clients available but the best of them thus far is BFGMiner by LukeJr

You can just compile the client for your system, or alternatively download the respective pre-compiled binaries for your system.

If you don’t know what this means, do not worry, all GoldCoin guides are written such that even not knowing any of the jargon used, you will be able to follow the guide easily and achieve the intended goal.

In order to begin using this software, however, you need to know what platform you’re currently running,

For Windows users, use this binary:

32 Bit
64 Bit

If you do not know whether your system is 32 bit or 64 bit then try the 32 bit edition first.

For Linux users:

Ubuntu Packages

Arch Linux: pacman -S bfgminer

Gentoo: emerge bfgminer

For Router users:

For Mac OSX users, please follow this guide to setting up your miner

Once you’ve downloaded and installed or unzipped the miner follow these instructions:

In order to save time we will only cover this section for windows but the concept and the command-line options used are universal for all the binaries.

Now is the time you need to decide whether you will be solo mining or pool mining, currently it’s best to pool mine so the instructions here will cover this, if you require aid in setup of a solo miner then please visit our forums.

For pool mining you first will need to choose a pool,

In this example we will use CryptoPlanet as that is the pool I usually use but for a full list of pools, please visit the “Pools” page on the main navigation bar.

You will need to register on the pool first, once registered you will have to create a worker, to do this click on the “My Accounts” tab, and then on the “My Workers” tab.

On this page you will need to create a worker, so go ahead and choose a username and password, preferably something short-don’t worry the worker only determines who can mine for you and isn’t very important.

For this example my worker username shall be “john” and my password “smith”,

First open up notepad,

To do this, you go to the start menu and type notepad in the search box.

Once it has started up,

Copy paste this into it, remembering to replace “john” and “smith” ,respectively, with your username and password for the worker you just made.

bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp:// -u myaccountname.john -p smith --worksize 256 --no-submit-stale

Now this next step is a little tricky,

Click file, then “Save As”, then under the selection list for “Save as type:”, select “All Files”, now in the field for “File Name”

put “run.bat”

And save this in the same folder where you extracted/installed bfgminer (it must be in the same folder as the other files for this to work!)

Then simply double click run.bat whenever you want to mine, and use the key “Q” whenever you want to stop mining.

That’s it you’re done!
